{"id":838,"date":"2022-07-11T04:38:45","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T04:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.recreations.com.au\/?p=838"},"modified":"2023-07-04T11:25:05","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T11:25:05","slug":"nesting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recreations.subtleglitch.com.au\/?p=838","title":{"rendered":"Nesting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.recreations.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/9-reduced-744x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-857\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve just completed a new paper sculpture titled \u201cNesting\u201d.<br>I gave myself some new challenges with this one, like designing patterns folded and shaped from a single piece of paper.&nbsp; The nest, the birds and the foliage are all cut from single sheets, with just the tiniest bit of gluing to insert contrast colour for the birds.&nbsp; As shown in the photo below  (click photos to enlarge), I made 14 attempts to make a nest in this way!&nbsp; It&#8217;s amazing how precise a pattern has to be to make the final product look messy and unfinished!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another challenge was entwining the foliage from separate layers together into one picture. I love working with paper, but it\u2019s so fragile and delicate so this was quite difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped\"><ul
